Using Buyer Demand Signals to Decide What to Stock
Chaos's Wanted page shows aggregated, anonymised buyer demand in real time — a live signal for what to actually source next, not a guess.
Deciding what to stock next is usually a guess informed by what sold last season — Chaos's Wanted page replaces part of that guess with a live, aggregated view of what jewellers are actually requesting right now.
What the Wanted page actually shows
It aggregates and anonymises buyer requests submitted through Chaos's stone request feature, surfaced by stone type, so dealers can see genuine current demand patterns without any individual buyer's identity or specific request being exposed. This is real, current demand signal, not a lagging indicator based on what happened to sell.
How to actually use it when sourcing
Check demand by category before committing budget to new stock, particularly for categories where you're deciding between two similar sourcing opportunities — genuine current demand is a better tiebreaker than instinct or last quarter's sales. It's especially useful for spotting demand in categories you don't currently carry deeply, which is a direct, low-risk way to test whether expanding into a niche is worth the sourcing investment before committing significant capital.
It's a signal, not the whole picture
Aggregated demand tells you what buyers are asking for, not what they'll pay, how many other dealers are already moving to meet it, or whether the demand is a durable trend or a short-term spike — combine it with your own read on pricing and what buyers are researching more broadly rather than treating it as a complete sourcing strategy on its own.
Submit requests you can't currently fill
If you receive an enquiry for something outside your current stock, encouraging that buyer to submit it as a request (rather than simply saying no) both serves them better and adds a genuine data point to the demand signal every dealer, including you, can see and act on.
